Any sliding motion carries a potential risk to patients who have fragile or damaged skin due to the shearing forces produced by sliding especially during the initial thrust. In such cases, single layer slide sheets may not offer enough protection. The Slide Quilt has thick, siliconised fibre padding between the cotton outer and the nylon inner surface to provide this protection. Using the Patient Handling Sling in conjunction with any sliding aid, reduces the risk of the nurse or carer overstretching and allows for better hand grip and greater control. The Slide Quilt is also more suitable for patients on water, air or other special mattresses. Supplied complete with a waterproof cover which can be used independently as a slide sheet.
