Transfer discs are beneficial in reducing the potential for damage to the backs of nurses and carers whilst moving patients to or from the chair, bed, toilet or car. By allowing smooth, controlled rotation on a non-slip surface they eliminate potentially dangerous jerks and twists which can damage a patient’s weak limbs or joints.
By the same token, the nurse or carer has greater control without having to twist from the hips. The risk of strain or injury to the nurse or carers back is greatly reduced.
The MEDesign Patient Handling Sling and Transfer Belts can be used in conjunction with transfer discs.
This is a smaller diameter model which is ideal in situations where there is limited or restricted floor space. The surfaces are non slip, “warm feel” polymer and the turning mechanism is self lubricating and maintenance free.
